In recent times, no single event has spurred growth in Charlotte and the surrounding counties of Union and Cabarrus quite like interstate 485 - the Charlotte outerbelt. On the map below, the completed section of  i-485 is depicted by a blue line, while the unfinished sections are depicted in green and red. The expected completion dates for the remaining sections are noted.
