About
Charlotte NC:
Charlotte is a city of 615,000 people, ranking it as the 26th largest
city in the United States. It is the number two banking center in the
US, and home to Wachovia and BankOfAmerica. Charlotte ranks as 3rd
best metropolitan area for business location and we are number 6 on the
list of cities with Fortune 500 headquarters (statistics courtesy of
www.Charmeck.org). The Charlotte region comprises Mecklenburg
County (which is basically Charlotte's County), Union County (America's
6th fastest growing county - there must be a reason), Cabarrus County,
Iredell County, Gaston County, York County (SC), Lake Norman, Lake
Wylie, and Mountain Island Lake.
If you tend toward the upscale in shopping,
we've got some Charlotte real estate I'm sure will interest you: SouthPark
mall. Here you will find Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus (just opened), Kate Spade, Louis
Vuitton, Kenneth Cole, Sigrid Olsen, Ann
Taylor, Ralph Lauren, Burberry, and Tiffany & Co., just to mention a few. From
Charlotte homes in trendy Dilworth and upscale Meyers Park to lake front homes,
from country club
settings to friendly sub-divisions, to rural county real estate, the Charlotte
real estate market and the surrounding region offers you an incredible choice of fine living.
People unfamiliar with Charlotte
don't know what to expect. We're kind of like a large city -- without
all the buildings, people, and traffic -- but with many of the amenities
you'd expect to find. Along with the fine shopping, for example,
Charlotteans enjoy dining in the many
restaurants in and around town. And with the recent opening of the Johnson and Wales
University campus (which highlights a famous culinary program),
Charlotte is expected to take the dining experience that much higher.
And Charlotte is a major sports venue too: Just a quick ride from most Charlotte
homes (or a short walk in the city) will get you to football (NFL
Carolina Panthers) and basketball (NBA Charlotte Bobcats) games. South
Charlotte's Quail Hollow County Club hosts the Wachovia Championship (PGA
Tour) and Concord, NC (Cabarrus County) only 12 miles up the interstate,
is home to Lowe's Motor Speedway (NASCAR Nextel and Busch series
racing). Charlotte also hosts top minor league level
teams in baseball and hockey. Our quality of life, I believe, is
second to none.
Employment
Relocation
or Retirement
to Charlotte?
You couldn't ask for a better location in the United States! Charlotte
enjoys four distinct seasons, but hardly any snow. On the rare day that it
snows,
the white stuff is generally gone by the next day. And there's maybe 5 days all winter
where the temperature doesn't get above freezing. If you're living in a
cold climate now, you'll just love what Charlotteans call winter. . But winter isn't the
only reason to take in interest in Charlotte real estate.
Charlotte homes cover a very broad spectrum:
We have city living, lake living,
country club homes, homes in executive communities, suburban living, rural
real estate (see next paragraph)
and condos/patio/town houses (for those who want to forget about outside
maintenance forever). Yes, the Charlotte real estate market is varied,
but there's more... We have doctors, hospitals, shopping, sports,
major interstates and an international airport so you'll have the
services you need or desire close to your home. New and resale single family homes
and townhomes are quite affordable, especially as compared to other
regions of the country. Home costs range from
below 100,000 up into the millions.
Want rural living but need to be close
to big city amenities? Within a 30 mile radius of Charlotte, I found the
following examples in our MLS (February 2007): 35 homes on a
3-12 acre site priced from $80,000 to $200,000 (about half are
single/double wides) and over 65 tracts of land
from 5-12 acres priced from $60,000 to $175,000, with the majority
somewhere in the 100's.
Relaxation.
We have 3 lakes around Charlotte, 1
river, and tons of golf. Within 2 hours of your new home you can visit the Asheville (NC)
mountain and national forest areas or the Blue Ridge mountains of
Virginia and West Virginia. Need the ocean? Charleston
(SC) and Myrtle Beach (SC) are approximately 3.5 hours away. But just
staying in Charlotte is pretty darn good too! The fact is, the Charlotte
real estate can offer you affordable retirement living and the advantages of a
centralized location to meet all your desires. have

The
People
of Charlotte.
Your neighbors may or may not be native Charlotteans, but chances are
one or more of their children are. We're not your stereotypical
southern town -- as an example, there are only two country-western
FM radio stations in Charlotte. And while many natives and
transferees do drive pick-up trucks, I'd venture there's an equal
or greater number of BMWs, Mercedes, Lexus, Jaguars, Cadillacs and
Lincolns around town too.
